Republic of Georgia – Gentiana septemfida Pall.

Gentiana septemfida (crested gentian) is a beautiful example of the many gentians that are used as aromatic, medicinal, and horticultural plants from the Caucasus region at the border of Europe and Asia. Garden botanists have been studying the medicinal plants of the region and are also involved in identifying those species of conservation concern to ensure their future protection. There is a steadily increasing interest in the potential horticultural use for many rare and endemic species from the Caucasus because the climate there is similar to parts of North America.
